I went to a wedding, date in tow. I don’t remember whose wedding it was, but my high school friends were there.
I was a bridesmaid so I had to leave my date at a table while I stood by the altar. (Yes, there were tables.) He knew no one, and there was no time for introductions because we got there just before the ceremony began.
With everybody in their respective places, the wedding began. While the priest was still talking, someone came up to me, who I assumed to be Security, and whispered “Is he with you?” pointing to said date. “He’s been throwing peanuts at [high school friend].” And he was. I saw it with my own eyes. My date, who as far as I knew was a nice guy, was bullying my friend from across the room.
The next thing I knew, I was pulling my date out of the church (that, strangely enough, looked like a lounge) by the arm. Outside, barely resisting the urge to yell, “What. Are you doing?!” I grilled him.
“Nothing,” he said, with an air of arrogance.
“Why were you picking on my friend? You don’t even know him. And I’ve known him longer than I’ve even known you!”
He cracked a smile. “Oh I don’t know! It was just so entertaining to see him get all riled up!” he said, laughing.
I felt disgusted. This is so immature, I thought. “Well, just stop doing it.” Agreed.
We were at the reception now. Toasts and speeches, music and dancing… Amidst it all, I heard the intro to a song out of place for the occasion. It wasn’t pleasant, and it was clashing with the music already streaming in from the venue’s speakers. This audio interruption went on for minutes. Suspicious, I turned to look at my date. There he was, slouched on a couch, loudly blasting songs from his cellphone, completely inconsiderate of other people.
I glared at him. He smiled back at me.
Then, I woke up.
Then I texted my “date” and informed him he ruined my friend’s wedding (in my dream), so I was mad at him.
And he said sorry. :)
And all was right again, in that place where the difference between the dream world and the real world is still fuzzy.
