That quiet little country named China has finally stepped up. And now they’re hosting the 2008 Olympics.
After a week of Olympic-this and Olympic-that from every form of media possible, here’s my take on this:
Okay, so the “controversies” I’ve read about were interesting enough: That poor little girl wasn’t pretty enough. And what?! Computer-generated fireworks? Oh no they, didn’t!
But… Meh.
I have always thought the Olympics was boring. Every four years, I try to psych myself up and say “Ohhh I have to show some love for our Filipino athletes! I have to be part of this hullaballoo because it’s a historical event (and whatever)!”
But what happens instead is this:
Something comes up so I’m not able to watch the opening ceremony (which is usually the only fun part for non-athletes like me anyway). So, I forget about the Olympics completely and life goes on.
Then, a few days later and days after that, when I plop down in front of the TV to watch the TV shows I like to watch, they’re not there! I’m munching down chips, slouched into the sofa comfortably, only to find out that most cable channels opt out of their regular TV programming in favor of boring Olympic sports events.
And thus, my feelings are justified, and my Olympic blog entry concluded.
I want my TV shows back!!!
