My 2-day Jologs Holiday

With time to get out of Laguna and back to Pasig City, I crashed at the cousins’ house as their resident squatter. Which means: some “grown-up girl-bonding” time with my cousin. (She shall, from here on out, be referred to as Shindy.) And also, as an Ate, I took the opportunity to drag her with me wherever I wanted to go. Yay!

As it turned out, this 2-day stay would become a 2-day Jologs Holiday. Double yay!

The reasons are as follows:

I.

Shindy and I decided to go out and watch a movie. It was a choice between a Filipino movie, 3 other movies we never heard of, and sucky CGI Star Wars. So we threw caution to the wind and went for the local bit – For The First Time. YES. The one starring KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez.

It was okay. BUT it was unnecessarily long and halfway through the movie there were too many plotlines and wayyyy too much cheese. BUT. It was okay. I guess. Okay?

Also, just so you know if you decide to make a movie yourself, that theme song upon which the movie title is based is just not made to be part of a movie soundtrack. NEVER.

And now my favorite quote from the movie, as spoken by Mr. Gutierrez (which I paraphrase because I was too busy laughing to write it down):

I thought it was hard enough being miserably in love with you. But… it’s even harder being miserably in love without you. *sob*

II.

There is always a DVD lying around that you know you’re going to end up watching even if you don’t know why it’s there. So as long weekends go, I watched the said DVD. Fueled by my hate of all things related to Miley Cyrus, I watched Disney’s Camp Rock. (In my defense, it was Shindy’s, not mine!)

The movie, as most Disney movies are, was cute and innocent — not to mention highly unlikely to happen in real life. But just like High School Musical, once it’s actually showing on cable, I’ll probably watch it again (…and again. And yet again.).

I’m 22. What the fuck was I doing watching the Jonas Brothers?

Favorite quote:

Whatever, major loser! *with matching hand gestures*

III.

The way I see it, HE should have been kissing ME.

The way I see it, HE should have been kissing ME.

And yes. This was a picture taken in a public place. I’m hardcore like that.

Well, that’s all for now! Thanks for reading, friends! …Friends? …Guys???

…Hello…?

Waaarrhhllyyyy

I went on a movie date with The Mom the other day. It was either that Sarah Geronimo/John Lloyd Cruz movie or Wall-E. So (without much thought really), we decided:

Wa-ah-ah-r-llyyyy! Ermm.. Wall-E.

Waaaarrhhlllyyyy.

"Waaaarrhhlllyyyy."

I have to say, it surprised me. I expected it to be like every other Disney/Pixar film — good, funny, the kind of movie you can watch over and over, entertaining. And it was. But wait, there’s more!

I know this word is overused, but the movie was AMAZING. Isn’t it that when you’re seated in the theater, and you’re in awe of the footage, left in raw amazement at every scene, then you can call it amazing? And so, it was.

There was minimal dialogue for the most part of the movie, which I think is one of my favorite aspects. It was the music. Oh, the music. Words weren’t needed as much because the music told everything. It dictated the feel of every single scene.

Music serves as a background to most films, but in this one, music was the storyteller.

I was pleased to discover there was even a message within all this cuteness. Being set 700 years into the future, it shows that we’ve literally trashed our earth. (Wall-E being the only surviving trash compacting robot.) This movie jumped right into the trend of promoting eco-friendliness. (Watch and you will see.) But most importantly, it did so without being annoyingly overpreachy about it. It did it with Wall-E cuteness! Haha. And with Wall-E — cute dorky little robot that he is — essentially telling the story, who wouldn’t listen?

I want my own grubby little Wall-E robot, too. Actually, I want my own little colony of robots!

I’d totally watch this movie again.

And in case you couldn’t tell, the most memorable quote?:

“WaaAAarhhllyyyy!”

I find it just a tad bit unsettling when a cartoon created in your image turns out looking cooler than the real you.

cartoon created in my image

But then again, it’s a damn cartoon!

This is half a lie anyway — I don’t have red hair. YET. And I just know red hair’s going to make me cool. Haha. ;)

Have a little fun and try it yourselves!
