Dream on.

Everybody has dreams. You want to become something. You want something. And it’s not just the superficial, the material, but a want a need that you just can’t get over. You know the feeling.

But sometimes, dreams aren’t meant to come true. That’s just the way life goes, we say. So you try to convince yourself that your dream will always be, can only be just that — a dream. You try to move on, to forget, to go find something else to distract yourself, or if you’re lucky, something that would somehow fill the void of this lost dream. In give or take a few months or years, you now think you’ve succeeded in convincing yourself to just let the damn dream go.

But then the moment comes that the opportunity is knocking on your door — you forget all your convictions. You eat your words and you jump at the chance.

The dream never went away. It probably never will.

Macho no more?

Do you remember the years when our local version of Cosmopolitan magazine was the only one of its kind? It was also the only one that dared cater to Philippine women’s, ermm, cravings. In the early 00’s, this was a major step forward for womanhood.

Pictures like this, to our utmost pleasure, finally made the rounds:

Jon Hall - the "love of my life" in my high school days

Moving forward, a lot of things have changed since then. I’ve moved on from my macho Cosmo crushes. Newer magazines have popped up, and Jon Hall is long gone from the Cosmo 69 Bachelors list, or from any list for that matter.

Also, Facebook was invented, discovered, and it developed along with it the inevitable weird friend invites that go hand-in-hand with social networking sites. What does Facebook have to do with Cosmo, you ask? Why, it’s only the reason I remembered the days of Jon Hall, dear reader.
Witness:

Yes, this screen cap is real, unedited, save the lame censor attempt.

Yes, this screen cap is real, unedited, save the lame censor attempt.

Oh, Jon, if only you noticed me when I was still in high school, I would have clicked on Confirm so readily. Now my post-high school mind can only manage to send a message and say “Hi. Sorry, do I know you?”

Sigh.

I don’t remember when I started my relationship with the world wide web, honestly. I vaguely remember playing Pacman on my dad’s office computer, and Family Feud on my cousin’s computer, all in black and white. I somehow remember the computer, and computer games! Oh I loved the computer games. But back then there was no internet. And if there was it was, it was probably very expensive, very slow and very useless.

But eventually, the world grew, and so did I. You can’t not have a computer these days, and especially not without an internet connection! That thing called the internet I didn’t care for back then, is now an extension of me.

Writing though was always, always my outlet. It was my “thing,” so naturally I did just that online. I blogged. But as time fluttered and flew, and the world wide web grew (Oh hey, a rhyme!), I came to a decision. It’s time to move on from lazily blogging via online networking sites — no matter how much I love it — and on to an actual blog blog.

And so I start today.
